Taking the First Step

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step—but you don’t have to do it alone.

At Carrs Lane Counselling, we aim to make the process as simple, welcoming, and stress-free as possible. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just need someone to talk to, we’re here to support you.

How It Works

1. Get in Touch

Start by contacting us via our booking form, email, or phone. We’ll guide you through the next steps and answer any questions you may have.

2. Initial Assessment

Your first appointment will be an assessment consultation, where you’ll meet your allocated counsellor.

This session gives you the opportunity to:

Talk about what’s brought you to counselling

Share what you’re currently experiencing

Ask any questions about the process

Cost: £20.00

3. Ongoing Sessions

If counselling feels right for you, you may be offered an initial block of six weekly sessions, each lasting up to 50 minutes.

Towards the end of these sessions, you and your counsellor will review your progress together and decide whether further support would be helpful.

Fees & Contributions

Carrs Lane Counselling Centre is a registered charity, funded through donations and supported by a dedicated team of volunteer counsellors.

While our service is not-for-profit, it costs approximately £50 to provide each counselling session. To help us continue offering support to those who need it most, we kindly ask clients to contribute what they can afford towards their sessions.

Your contribution helps ensure that we can remain accessible—especially for those who may not be able to afford private counselling, which often starts from £50 per session in Birmingham.

Ongoing Session Contributions

Following your assessment, we ask for a donation per session, based on what you feel able to afford.

There is no fixed fee for ongoing sessions—our aim is to make counselling as accessible as possible while sustaining the service.

If You’re Struggling Financially

We understand that finances can be a concern.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please speak to us. Thanks to additional funding, we may be able to offer low-cost or free sessions, depending on your circumstances.

Supporting a Vital Service

Every contribution—no matter the amount—helps us continue providing a safe, supportive space for people across Birmingham.
